SAN DIEGO – April 12, 2010 – VoxOx by TelCentris, Inc., the first and only free consumer service that unifies today’s key communication channels – voice, video, IM, text, social media, e-mail, fax and file sharing – into a single user interface, has been named to PC Magazine’s prestigious annual list of “Best Free Software” for 2010. According to PC Magazine, the 2010 list consists of 196 programs that “cost nothing but will make your computing life richer — all while keeping your wallet fat.”

Issued every year, PC Magazine’s “Best Free Software” list examines productivity applications and utilities for Windows users, as well as Mac OS and Linux distributions. (VoxOx is available for free on both PC and Mac operating systems.) PC Magazine features editor Eric Griffith writes:

“You want a tool that does it all? This could be the one. VoxOx… integrates with a wide variety of services and software: It does voice and video calls, SMS text messaging, instant messaging, file sharing, e-mail, and even faxing. It helps that the parent company is a telco. You might have to pay for some calls, but the charge is minor. It even includes a new digital ‘personal assistant’ and on-the-fly translation of text.”

In addition to the PC Magazine designation, TelCentris, the creator of VoxOx, was recently named to the list of the 50 most disruptive Voice over IP (VoIP) service providers by analyst firm Heavy Reading in the report titled, “Disruptive VoIP Services: What Carriers Need to Know,” by analyst Robert Poe. The summary of the report states:

“[VoIP] is the most potentially disruptive telephony technology since the birth of the industry, changing every aspect of making and delivering phone calls…The last few years have seen the development of new kinds of VoIP services with great potential to disrupt the telecom market.”

“We are thrilled to be recognized by such prominent organizations as PC Magazine and Heavy Reading.” said Bryan Hertz, CEO of TelCentris, creator of VoxOx. “These honors validate our continued efforts to innovate and advance VoIP and communications technologies for the benefit of businesses and consumers worldwide.”

These two designations mark the latest in a string of awards and accolades for both VoxOx and TelCentris, including:

  • Best Software / Service at CES 2010 – VoxOx – Computer Shopper
  • Best New Product / Service 2009 – VoxOx – American Business Awards (“The Stevies”)
  • Best Consumer Offering – VoxOx – TMC‘s ITEXPO West 2009
  • Product of the Year 2009 (and 2008, 2007) – TelCentris unified communications service delivery platform – TMC‘s Internet Telephony Magazine
